Whispering Smith

In 1948 Popular Library released a hardcover promo version of Whispering Smith (#185) paperback by Frank H. Spearman, which tied into the Alan Ladd film that appeared that year . This was a limited run and each was signed by Alan Ladd on the inside. The book is unnumbered . A unique rare item and a paperback oddity. This is a hardcover version of the paperback (i.e., the paperback was bound, though without the paper cover).

The cover on the book is a plain hardcover in green cloth with the title printed on it.

The dustjacket is a rather plain white wrapper with a photo of Alan Ladd on the back. The signature is an actual signature by Alan Ladd.
